continued from page 1 We are equally excited to welcome D.C. based, Wicked Jezabel, to our Pride stage. Wicked Jezabel is Washington DC's 2007 WAMA (Washington Area Music Association) award winning all female party band (est. Oct 2004).
This band dynamically delivers hits from all of the partying decades to the whole Mid Atlantic! With 60's Motown, 70's Disco, classic rock, the wicked 80's, to the grungy/techno 90's with a "tad" of today, Wicked Jezabel delivers the party atmosphere required to ensure the best time anywhere. At the same time, they show that they are more than 'just a band' by supporting the local animal rescue community as well as other important causes!
We will also have several local performers sharing their talents with us including Lori Jamison, Michael Jay, Kristi Emmons, and the MCC Choir. It wouldn*t be a Pride Festival if we didn*t have our Star Show. Come out and experience the magic of this years (Nicolette Stevenz, Preston Flores, and Coltrane) and last years Roanoke Pride Pageant winners. We are also moving the annual Pride March to the middle of our festival so that more people can become a part of Roanoke Pride history. This is the best way to live our theme, Your Voice, Your Power, Our Pride! A complete stage/event schedule is available at www.roanokepride.com. You won*t want to miss a single moment as we move in to our 20th anniversary in 2009.
We will wrap up our Pride month with our major fundraising event to ensure that our Pride Festivals continue and remain free of charge! The Roanoke Pride Dinner and Auction will be held at St. John*s Episcopal Church at the corner of Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street here in Roanoke. Dinner will begin promptly at 6:00pm with a wonderful assortment of foods that is sure to please your palate! Our auction is to follow at approximately 7:00pm and will last until all items have been auctioned off. Tickets will again be $20.00 per person. You can purchase them in advance (preferable) by contacting any Pride committee member, or you can purchase on line at www.roanokepride.com. Tickets will also be available at the door. Remember, this is Roanoke Pride*s primary way of raising funds for our next year*s event so we truly appreciate your support!!!
We are still looking for volunteers to help out on the day of our Festival as well as for the Dinner and Auction. If you would like to give back to your community, please visit our website, www.roanokepride.com, to sign up!!! We promise you will have a great time!!
As always, if you have any concerns, suggestions, or compliments, you can reach the Roanoke Pride co-chairs via our website!
Your Voice, Your Power, Our Pride!!!!
In Pride, Steven Matzie Karen Gray
