This is the theme selected for our 19th Annual Pride in the Park Festival to be held in Elmwood Park on September 21st, 2008. More on that will follow, but Roanoke Pride Inc. wants to make sure you know of all of the events we have planned in the coming months!
As I write this article, we have just completed our annual Pride Hike to the Cascades in Pembroke. We had 20+ people attend this outing and it was a perfect day for it. Cloud coverage made the temperature very tolerable and the end result was magnificent. The Cascades waterfall was truly inspiring (yes, we all made it to the end!), but what was most inspiring to me, was the pride I felt in hiking with so many members of our community. You will be able to view some pictures at www.roanokepride.com. Plan on attending next years outing, you won*t be disappointed!

Your Voice, Your Power, Our Pride is the theme of our 19th Annual Roanoke Pride Festival to be held in Elmwood Park on Sunday, September 21st, 2008. Because of the quality and quantity of this year*s event we have decided to start a little earlier than years past. The official Roanoke Pride welcome will begin at 11:00 am and the festival will run until 6:00pm. We are pleased to present two amazing headline performers.
Currently promoting his debut cd, *Livin* Out Loud*, Brendan Velasquez is sure to entertain you! At nineteen, Brendan knows what he wants and has set out to reach his goal, a career in the music industry. With looks that equal Zac Efron and Ashton Kutcher, and a voice reminiscent of Justin Timberlake and George Michael, Brendan Velasquez is an artist that you will be seeing a lot of in 2008. continued on page 8
